What type of embedded SIM is it? I would start with finding that out and then speaking with the manufacturer.

Talk to the manufacturers of the laptop: the chances are it needs a proprietary access method or it is configured to appear as a COM port in Windows. But they will know, and they are pretty much the only people who can tell you!
