How to avoid gridview multiple rows in edit mode

Hi friends ,

I am having problem while editing the gridview.
I am displaying fields by taking in table within one itemtemplate.
I am displaying panel while editing. Till now it works fine.

if i click on one edit button it displays panel meanwhile if i click on another edit button
it also displays panel without closing the panel that i invoked first time.

I want to provide a facility to open only one panel to edit at a time.
