Just use document.removeChild(element) to remove.
Also do an AJAX call to the database to remove the element from server as well..

Hi
I was just wondering if there is any easy way to build a ASP.NET frontend for an existing C++/win32 based application for some heavy processing.

I have this C++ application which I use to do some file/db input, process, store result to file/db. Now I want to be able to start/pause/stop processing and read status from the web-browser.

So how can I, by using ASP.NET (and the nature of http), communicate with this process?

Any ideas? I would really appreciate it...

Well, from ASP.NET frontend it can be done. But be sure to check the status when the page is loading. Its because, IIS creates a new session for every new session. So if the process is already started or stopped from another browser, you cannot start it again. So before doing anything just check the status.

You can also use WCF, the new concept to do the same.

Whether or not the service/process is already running and just waiting for a signal to process, or the web-app starts the application doesn't really matter as long as the method to achieve it is "failsafe".

Which solution would you recommend?

Making the background process listening on a local UDP-socket and send UDP packets from the web-app to control it? Using the Windows message queue and push messages into this queue from the web-app? Or is there any "built in" method which is better?

Perhaps I can start the process from the web-app, and store the identifier/process handler somewhere (file? mssql?) and then watch this handler for whether the app is running or not, use it to kill the process, and etc? In this case I need to "lock" some object I assume so that two parallel page-requests won't start two processes over just one?

I am really looking for the best possible solution...the most "correct" one. If not for this particular app, then for learning purposes.

i have one problem when i enter some integer value in asp.net text box,& when press enter then automaticaly my focus goes to asp.net button which is in my form & event of that button gets fire...bt i dnt want to fire that event unless i press that button...plz any one have solution....?

I think you can make
TabIndex="-1" of that control. and it will not focus.

Hi all,m working on a web application in which I am creating a session for each member after login and redirecting to his home page,but after going to the home page when I click on a link or I just refresh my page session is getting timedout automatically and it comes to login page.I hv defined my sesion timeout in config file.I m not getting what is going wrong.Plz help me to resolve the problem...........

I think some error is happening during your redirection, so that the session is getting lost somewhere.

Debug each line in the login process.

1. How you are creating the session? Are you doing any thing in homepage?
2. What about the authentication / authorization entries in your web.config file?

I want to retrieve header text of link button using javascript.I tried following code but it is not working.I am passing page and link button as parameter to this function.

link.clientID should be within server tag.

Export image into Word file

Hi friends,
I want to export a grid into word in asp.net.

The grid contains product details like product id,name,date and image of the product.

If i export this grid into word file,it works fine except the image of the product.

The product image should not display.Is there any other method to export image into word.If so please help me?

Good Morning guys

i did not know what subject to use, But let me explain my Problem, i have inherited a web application. In that Application the User is doing a lot of Selection that lead to the end of the page and automatically enabling a Scroll bar that hides user selection from User. below are the links of the images of how it looks before the end of the page and after it has reached the end of the page.

I guess you have a css-class problem with a width or a height-property.

how to shared folder from local pc, when a folder in another pc in LAN?
using c#.net...

i tried with WMI class. its helpful with local pc for local folder path, but i cant able to send n/w path (folder path like //server/root... etc) for another pc!!!

Why ? Did you give the remote System Credentials (user id and Password ) ?
Try to dowload WMICodeCreator and Explore the tool . You will get the answer .

Just call a server page, you can use cgi scripts if you dont have any development software, to send your mail. ...

You can call the page using AJAx.
If this is not what you want, you can use
mailto:emailaddress

Hello all,

I wand to read a pdf file using asp .Net and want to show contents of pdf file into a text area. Get a lots of code for viewing pdf file or writing the pdf file but not for how to read a pdf file.

Please help me...
