Need help transferring files between 2 laptops

I'm using two laptops and each one has a program on it to control something like a server. I need to exchange these programs' results between laptops via an Ethernet cable and I need something that works like hyper-terminal.

Solution 1

Use a crossover cable and the two laptops will see each other:

Then you can use built-in Windows networking to share folders and files between them.
