An article on framework to medicine.

Brain

Introduction

Present achievements in biology and medicine are very impressive. Lots of features of human organism are known. However, there are still lots of unresolved problems and scientists have no satisfactive idea how to approach to them. My reading of papers and books about biology hit me upon an idea that organism is an engineering object. Moreover I'll illustrate it using my software. Now there are lots of articles devoted to this subject. For example, it is worth to note AI : Neural Network for beginners (Part 1 of 3). In this article I would like to prove that biology and medicine research could also be included into universal framework. However human mind (even my one) is limited. Comprehensive medical research requires full time of engagement. Therefore unlike my article about determination of orbits of artificial satellites, I haven't been attempting to present realistic picture. I just want to show similarity of determination of orbits of artificial satellites and research of human organism. I think that medical specialists forgive me for my incompetence. However I'm sure that this soft may be used for realistic research of epilepsy. So let us start.

Background

Hippocrates was the first researcher who had discovered nature of epilepsy. Now it is known that his ideas are true. How did he made his discovery? The key feature of epilepsy is an attractor. We can notice an attractor in oscillations of trees forced by wind or water oscillations in rivers and streams. And Hippocrates could do that too. Indeed The Nature has common laws. Click here to find the picture of epilepsy attractors (Fig. 1).Sample attractor picture is presented below:

Attractor

Qalitatively it is the same attractor as the one referenced in above article. The boundary of red and green curves is a stable cicle that corresponds to epilepsy oscillations. The referenced above article contains very complicated models of the human brain. However all present day models are rather subject of research than absolute true. Specialist in epilepsy told me that they need the framework more than concrete model.

Determination of parameters of human brain.

Here I'll show that determination of human brain parameters is similar to determination of orbits of artificial satellites. Usually those models are verified by scientists using electroencephalography. They compare curves obtained by their models with curves provided with electroencephalograms. The "brain" that I have constructed is described by following system of differential equations:

Attractor equations

I've selected these equations to obtain an attractor. Then I define parameters c and f of these equations. I wont't be overloading a reader by technical details. My determination is presented below:

Determination of brain parameters

Although this brain is not realistic it contains qulitative ingridients of realistic one. We have an attractor, a system of differential equations, an electroencephalogram. I may be asked by readers: "Why did you write this article? We already have an article about determination of orbits of artificial satellites." I would like to attract attention of physicians and biologists to the framework. Would this article be named: "System identification" then maybe domain specialists would notice it.

Points of interests

When I was a boy I wished to glorify my beautiful native Ramenskoe city. I wanted all residents of the city know to me. Now a number of visits of my articles exceeds the number of residents of Ramenskoe (by the time when I was born).
