I cannot find that on the Microsoft site.... what link says that? I have NEVER had to do that at all for any of my certifications.

Hi All,
I have created sequential workflow using Visual Studio 2005. Also created some forms using InfoPath 2007 and added to the Visual Studio project. And finally published the workflow in to my sharepoint site. And I am able to see the workflow which was published. Then I activated the workflow and associated the workflow to specific document library. For the same document library, I added the new task. I am able to see the another new tasks which created by workflow. But when I click on that task, site is trying to open the form which was created in InfoPath 2007. But it is showing the error as form cannot be opened, workflows is enabled as browser enabler. I don't know Why this error is comming? I was created the forms in InfoPath 2007 with browser enabled compatibility feature.
If any one solve this problem, please guide me in solving the problem.

Hi, while I was downloading the team foundation server, that error appeared to me, which says that I need to install "ASP.NET 2.0 QFE KB913393". I can't find anything named so to install. Many people on many forms had that error too but I can't find an answer to it there, so I hopped that anyone could help me in that.
please help

It always amazes me that so few people who ask questions in a forum know how to use a search engine. Just typing "KB913393" into Google, Yahoo, AND Microsoft's Search box on MSDN and again on Microsoft's Support page, came up with this KB article[^] describing exactly what you're talking about.

Hi Everyone,
Can someone provide some information on what type of responsibilities
come with jobs in the data layer?
I presently work in middleware, and I find interfacing with multiple
systems difficult and painful. I've often been told that life in the
data layer is peaceful and easier compared to life in middleware, as
it involves much lesser coding. (Mainly complex SQL and huge stored
procs only).
Does anyone have some idea what people really do in the data layer?
I'm not talking about DB admins and architects, but the general
employees of the data layer. And is it also true that one has to be
fairly experienced to get into a job in the data layer?
Some advice regarding this would be really helpful, as I'm thinking of
a career switch.

Probably the reason you didn't get any replies is that working in the data layer is much of a muchness with working anywhere else in a piece of software.

Does it? If there is less quantity it is probably because there is more thought put into it. But then, if people put more thought into the code they write elsewhere there would be less quantity and higher quality.

Query the database. I don't really know how to answer that. It is pretty much like working anywhere else. You write code, you test code, you fix bugs, you release/deploy the code.

Not if some of the complete crap I've had to deal with is any indication.
I would suspect you would have to know more about how databases work than in any other layer, but that's about it. It is just like working anywhere else - You have to know how the thing you are interfacing with works.

You're either posting in the wrong place, or cross posting the entire site. This should be in the VB forum, and no-where else.
You *think* it's that line ? What does the compiler say ? It looks like the params you're specifying are wrong. Break this line into many steps and see which one fails to compile.

Hi Everybody,
Sorry my message may be big .
I have a website which should be deployed on Non-IIS webserver with
this website registered on client system.
I choosed Cassini Webserver for non-IIS webserver.
I have registered the website for this server but i have added
UltiDevCassiniWebServer2.exe file in the bin folder of the websetup project
but i am not able to install that one.
I am getting the error message
Component UltiDev Cassini Web Server for ASP.NET 2.0 has failed to install with the following error message:
"Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install. "

I guess you might have another project with the same name that was intsalled previously..Just check in the add/remove programs whether there is yet another program with the same name..if yes you need to uninstall that first..

I have an unusual situation. I've been working on an invention of mine and in the process I needed to create an electronic circuit that would send information through a serial port. I taught myself how to program in visual basic and a microcontroller version of c. Anyways I like programming and I am interested in becoming a programmer.
Looking at the job market I think I need to learn some other skill like sql, some web programming stuff, and c++ (I could probably teach myself c# or java). So my question is, what is the quickest and cheapest path to take to get more training and something official to show employers that I know how to program and get a job as a programmer? Are all training programs/colleges going to force me to take alot of irrelevent courses? And can you get a job by passing a certification tests or do you need a degree?
Any help will be much appreciated,

Most colleges will have you take things like physical education classes and liberal arts. Some people feel that those are irrelevant courses, but I don't. I have interviewed people that can from Devry that only had technical classes. I was not impressed with them at all. They lacked a depth that you get from having those other courses. For example, having a liberal arts course where you get up in front of people on a regular basis and present things to a group gives you skills that you will not find sitting in front of a PC and coding all day.
You should at least get an associates degree. From there you MIGHT be able to find someone to give you a job programming and that would pay for the rest of your schooling. Having that piece of paper shows employers that you can follow instruction, complete tasks that you start and are assigned. These are things that are important to people. I know of places that have hired people without a degree, but the pay will be ALOT less.

I said HAD hired and not are hiring right now. There are a lot of places to look for low pawing jobs, such as your local newspaper. I know that in today's electronic age we hate to think that the newspaper would give us anything we cannot get online, but sometimes they do list entry level positions. Search monster for entry level programming position.

Without a degree, you're probably only going to be able to get a job for a really small company that's making a hiring decision off a portfolio of stuff you've written while ignoring your lack of paper. Among actual working IT people (as opposed to HR and PHBs) most certs aren't seen as particularly valuable as an indication of your ability to do anything other than pass a test. Without a degree they might be more important, even if you don't pay for the tests actually learning the content covered (as opposed to being able to regurgitate test answers) can give you a decent overview of the technology in question.

The knowledge and indepth experience helps and not just papyrus products, which a local shack or training center can 'purchase' for a couple of exchange of bills. At least with respect to India, certifications have got lesser values nowdays with huge organizations since the amount of fake certifications have been steadily increasing. Personally from the Interview panel, I can figure out whether the candidate is actually skilled or not, in less than 5 minutes, regardless of the flashy certifications that he may brandish.
