Management Studio 2012

Dear Friends,

I have installed MSSql 2012. While installation it didn't ask servername or any other credentials. After installing the software I'm unable to use it as it requires servername.. can any body help me.

Solution 1

Normally it is same as your computer name which you can get by right clicking on My Computer and click on Properties.
If that dosen't work, follow these steps
1. Select Browse for more... from the Server Name dropdown
2. Under Local Servers tab, expand Database Engine
3. Select the SQL Server instance. Ex: YourCompName\SQLServer2012

Thanks for reply.. I already tried computer name but it didn't work..

. Under Local Servers tab, expand Database Engine

and then have you looked for that in the "Network Servers" tab?
Sometimes it is not displayed unders "Local Servers" (I don't know why, though)

Go to services and look for SQL Server (Instance Name)

If you are talking about 'SQL Server Services" in "SQL Server Configuration Manager" then there it no value. It is blank..

No I was talking about system services which can be accessed by opening Run and write Services and press enter.

If it is not listed in services(services.msc) then probably it's installation issue.

Sorry in the earlier msg you asked me to type "Services" but in the last msg you told "Services,msc". I write it and it opened a services box for me.. Could you please tell what should I check there?

It is showing SqlServer VSS Writer. No other name which start from Sql..

Then I believe it is problem with the Installation. Suggestion to reinstall it (if there is no other concerns).

Yes :)
This is the problem related to SQL Server (filename should be similar to "SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe") and not the management studio.
I can't gurantee but files downloaded from this link should work

Actually, your problem seems to be with the SQL Server instance and Management studio is just a graphical management tool for managing/querying SQL Server. So I believe, re-installing only SQL Server Management Studio will not help. You can re-install the complete package also, if you want.

I was able to use same software. I need your help.. Can you pls check 1 .bak file and let me know if it is blank or not.. I have uploaded the file on new server and they are telling .bak file is blank.. I really appreciate if you can check it on your system and let me know.. tblCategory
tblCategoryProduct
etc.

thank you.. I sent you two .bak files. can you please tell in which .bak files you see those record.. I really appreciate if you can check both .bak files and send me print screens.. I want to show it to hosting server coz they are not running my website and told me dbs are empty.. HOpe you understand and will help me..
