Delay before authentication

How to delay before submitting login details to authenticate in sharepoint site,
I have used setTimeout function in javascript but it didn't work.

Solution 1

A JavaScript function is not going to work because the authentication is being performed on the server not the client.

What possible reason could you have for delaying the authentication? I can't think of any valid reason for this.
