Cannot debug MFC 5.0 programs in Vista Home Premium. OK in XP.

I get:
"Linking...
LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "Debug/CMag.exe". I could
not install VC++ 5.0 completely from my CD into my Vista Home Premium laptop - it calls for NT files to be installed.

How can I download a file or files to correct this condition?

Solution 1

Are you running VC5 as an administrator ? Logging in as admin is not enough, you have to right click and choose 'run as administrator'. If it doesn't work, I am certain there will be no download. MS is not supporting VC5, and Vista breaks a lot of stuff.
