Is anyone else having a problem with VS 2022 freezing?

What I have tried:

I've tried several times, on two different Windows 10 machines to use this tool and I've retried it every time  there is a new release.  However, it usually only takes about an hour before the program freezes and I have to cancel it in task manager.  As a result, I'm still using VS 2019.

No where near enough information to help you. For example - What are you doing in VS2022? Compiling, running, just looking at it? What packages or third-party controls do you have installed?
Have you installed 17.3.1 (released yesterday)
Have you checked out what is being reported (or even reported this) in Visual Studio Feedback[^]

To add to others responses, is there anything in the event logs when it crashes? is there anything that is taking up the CPU time when it crashes

Disable all non-microsoft extensions, restart, and see if you still have an issue. If not, then slowly enable one, restart, see if you have an issue. If not, enable another and repeat. Keep repeating until the issue surfaces and the you will know which extension is causing you issues.

Alternatively, totally uninstalls VS 2022, then reinstall and do not add any extensions. Does it still freeze?
