SQL Server Management Studio 2012

I'm using SQL Server Management Studio 2012

When I try to logon onto SQL Server Management Studio using
name-pc\SQLEXPRESS
name-pc\SQL2K8R2
(LOCAL)\SQLEXPRESS
(LOCAL)\SQL2K8R2
.\SQLEXPRESS
.\SQL2K8R2

I get the following message Screen Shot
When i check the SQL Server Configuration Manager no items under sql server services Screen Shot
What is the Wrong?

Solution 1

SQL Server Management Studio is just an application that allows you to manage SQL databases. It is not the SQL service itself.

For that, you have to install SQL Server Express 2012.
