error in microsoft .net framework 4.0 installation

I m unable to intall visual studion on my windows7 ultimate laptop.
gives an error that "Microsoft .NET framework 4 installation failed"..

plz suggest me what to do how to get rid of this?????????

Can u provide some more information. Becoz by this much info,no body will able to find out a reason.

when i run the setup of visual studio 2010..the installation starts but suddenly fails saying that "Microsoft .NET framework 4 failed the component failed to install........Setup Failed There were errors during setup.

And what did Microsoft say when you asked their customer support about your problem? Did you check the event logs? Did you check the installation log to find out what "failed" means?
