We need to edit the page approval form which is coming from my page approval workflow. We have opened our project in SharePoint Designer so we can see the two .xsn files which is inheriting in our workflow and using Infopath 2013 we will be able to edit that file, but before publishing it we need to save it into some location and on publish button click we are getting this error. "An Unknown error has occured. The form template has been published to server, but it can only be opened in Infopath Filler" We are stuck on this error Any Help will be appreciated thanks in advance !!

Hi Tom

I had a somewhat similar situation where I had a workflow that was built in sharepoint 2010 and it was using the old workflow infopath 2010 forms for task approval, starting the workflow manually etc

After i opened the workflow in sharepoint 2013 (post content database migration) i tried to open the workflow forms but they would not open

I tried to get the old 2010 workflow forms and tried to change the manifest.xml and then tried to republish them to the Sharepoint 2013 server but i was getting the error "An unknown error has occurred . The Form template has been published to the server but it can only be opened in In"fopath Filler" I tried various things to resolve this issue but none worked

In the end i simply deleted these workflow forms in the Sharepoint Designer 2013 Workflow Settings page and then i republished the workflow. During the republish the forms were recreated and now i could access them and modify as per my requirements.

So it was really easy to do it in the above way. Hope this helps your situation.
