Yes, Windows Installer is required.
Windows 2000 or XP are also required. I've never tested on Win9x or ME. If anyone would like to try it out on those platforms please post your results!

I've just tried it on WinMe: Failed to load pstorec.dll: 120. Apparrently it does not work.

I've got the following error message with W2K:

"This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer sercice. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service"

Any clue ?

You will need to download the latest version of Windows Installer in order to install Protected Storage Explorer.

System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME

For Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000: See Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and 2000.

Windows XP contains Windows Installer 2.0 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this redistributable. Suspicious | :suss:
