10 Million members!

Over the weekend we reached the magical mark of 10 Million members currently signed up!  This has been a big year for us and we have plenty more to complete (and roll out!) this year. Some fun - and very useful - additions to the site and to our services. Thank you everyone for your support, for being a fantastic community that I'm deeply proud of, and for, well, hanging around and making CodeProject what it is.

Of course, no 10-millionth-member celebration is complete without a bag full of giveaways. We're still wrapping the last of the goodies and will present one lucky member with the gift basket next week.

Win One of 125 Windows 8 Tablets or 27" All-in-Ones, and your Share of $100,000 in Prizes

The Intel App Innovation Contest 2013 is here! Submit your Big Idea for a Windows 8 Desktop App in one of six categories for your chance at a Tablet or All-in-One. 125 CodeProject finalists will take home a tablet or all-in-one and go on to Phase 2 where they will complete their app and go against finalists from CodeProject and other developer communities in India, China and Russia.

The best app from each of the six categories (Entertainment, Games, Education, Healthcare, Finance, Retail) will win $10,000, the best app from each platform (Tablet and All-in-One) will take home $10,000, and the overall grand prize winner will be awarded a $20,000 prize (plus fame and bragging rights…). Stay tuned for more details when the contest launches this Wednesday July 24.

...and another holiday.

It's the monthly Monday Off in Summer holiday in Canada (also known as Civic or Provincial Day) so we're all out today soaking up as much of the sunlight as we can while it lasts. We'll get back to you on anything non-urgent Tuesday. Anything urgent? We're on it. We reserve the right to define urgent, though, depending on the weather.

cheers,
Chris Maunder

Protecting Your Brand Against Malware Threats With Code Signing

Today malware is big business for cyber criminals. The availability of exploitation kits, malware-as-a-service, rogue anti-malware software (AKA “scareware”), and other tools have made it too easy for unscrupulous individuals and criminal groups to infiltrate home and business computers and networks. Faced with the increasing sophistication of these threats, even the savviest computer users are getting infected. Code signing is an industry-recommended and widely-used defense against tampering, corruption, or malware infection in software...
